Thorpe United Ladies 5, Bungay Town Ladies 1

Thorpe United hit five goals against Bungay in this FA Women's Cup second qualifying round game.

With the now usual quick start from Thorpe, Bex caused trouble for the visitors' defence with quick thought and just as quick feet as she got past the defence but shot wide.

With Lauren and Charlotte controlling the midfield, and Alice and Jemma marshalling the defence, Thorpe United had the opposition where they wanted them.

Bex had another chance to open the scoring but this time scored, with the ball striking the bar then crossing the line, giving the keeper no chance. A

fter half an hour Bungay came back into the game putting Thorpe on the back foot and making chance after chance, but with some safe hands from Kirsty and determined defending from the back four kept Bungay's opportunities to a minimum.

Bungay had the next chance, and with Kirsty being left with no chance to prevent an equalizer the score was brought back to 1-1.

Soon after Lauren was given the opportunity to give the host the lead again which she took with aplomb, making the score 2-1, which was the least Thorpe deserved, thanks to an assist from Bex.

With a shortage of available players, all the subs had to be used early with Jazz coming on for the injured Mary while Emma replaced the hopping Bethan. Emma made an instant impact in the game with an assist with a quick throw which enabled Rebecca to work the goalkeeper who saved the shot but Bex knocked home the rebound.

Half time score 3 - 1.

The second half was controlled by Bungay until about half way until Charlotte and Lauren wrestled control of the match back and then put their mind and soul into finishing off their foe.

The next chance came from a Rebecca corner that Charlotte forced the keeper into a good save from the Thorpe midfielder's fierce header.

Rebecca's dead-ball situations were causing Bungay many problems and Bex had a sight of goal from six yards out following one of these corners which left the visiting keeper grasping at thin air.

The match was now getting out of Bungay's reach with the score now being 4 - 1.

To Bungay's credit, they didn't stop working and carried on putting Thorpe defenders under duress.

After one of Bungay's unsuccessful attacks, a quick break opportunity presented itself with Bex clean though and giving the keeper no chance to stop the score becoming 5-1.

The best attacking move of the game came through the hard work of Alice, Bex than crossed to Lauren whose shot was saved.
