Two members of Beccles's shooting club have recently achieved success in the County Rifle League. Chris Newson (on left), a comparative newcomer to competitive target shooting, shot well throughout the season to collect runner up in Division 14. Mike Veale in his fifty eighth year of shooting, won Division 7 proving that unlike most sports, shooting can be enjoyed well into retirement.
The Rifle Club is situated on Beccles Common adjacent to the footbridge leading to the Avenue. The club has facilities for prone rifle shooting at 25 yards, light carbine at 20 yards and air pistol and air rifle at 10 metres. Membership is growing and hopefully shooting success at the Olympics will bring more people to this safe, well supervised and enjoyable sport.
All prospective members are required to serve a probationary period before being granted full membership.
If you are interested in learning to shoot in a friendly safe environment and would like to arrange a visit for an informal chat, you can contact the Club Secretary on 01502 521809.
