The junior section at Barnham Broom Golf Club is flourishing, thanks in no small part to the weekly Saturday academy sessions.
These provide an introduction to the sport for children of all ages.
Monthly competitions, with prizes, are held on the three hole Academy course while the older juniors have a full schedule of competitions, including a monthly Stableford on the Hill course. Sessions are run by club professional Alan Hemsley, along with junior organisers Jonathan Hinton, Steven Freestone and Rachel Bradfield (welfare officer).
The next free taster day is this Saturday from 11am to 12.30pm. Contact ahemsley@barnham-broom.co.uk or 01603 757501 for details.
Royal Norwich's Hope Nield is one of 22 young players who will be competing in the Abraham Trophy at Blackmoor Golf Club in Hampshire on Monday to find England's most improved girl golfer. They have all qualified on the basis of handicap reduction.
