Norwich City would not cash out on Mo Toure ‘for crazy money’ insisted Philippe Clement, amid transfer links to Turkey in the closing hours of the summer window.
The prolific striker, who notched a brace in the 4-1 Championship win over Burnley at the weekend, has been reportedly subject of interest from Trabzonspor.
Toure was also touted with Hull City and Porto earlier in the window, but Clement is adamant the striker will be at Carrow Road beyond Tuesday’s 11pm deadline.
Jakov Medic and Amankwah Forson are expected to depart, with centre back Medic attracting interest from FC Utrecht and the Bundesliga, according to Sky Germany.
But Toure is too valuable to Clement’s promotion battleplan.
“I read the same things (from Turkey) but I've been really clear. Nothing crazy will happen. Of that, I'm confident,” he said, speaking at Colney on Monday ahead of the midweek trip to Stoke.
“Will there be people going out of the building? Yes, but the things that we all agreed to do, and maybe one player who's on the edge of things would go, but only if we can replace them.
“That can also happen, but not the names who are in the newspapers the last couple of weeks.
“Mo Toure will not leave the club even if somebody comes with crazy money, because then you would make things difficult because you cannot replace that for the moment.
“The plan is clear. It's clear which players are available to go out of the building, and then it's about Ben (Knapper) and his team to see what is possible or not.
“It's also clear what players are not available to go out of the building, so I take those things in account also towards the selection for Stoke, and maybe I need to swap one thing, but not more than that in the selection.
“The lines are really clear in the club.
“It will not happen that somebody comes with something silly now for a player that's in our heads, it's not only my head, our heads who will be important for the next couple of months, and that we don't have a solution there ready to swap that.
“So nobody will go in that situation.
“That's clear in all the club, so I feel lucky for that now because I know a lot of my colleagues will be much more nervous now in the next few hours about those things, and I've been there in the past also in some clubs that anything could happen that moment.
“We now have clear scenarios. If this happens, we do this. I've read rumours the last few weeks about there will be interest for players, but they all want to be here also.
“So there are no stories that I hear around other teams where you have a player or several players who still want to go, and are desperate to go, and come to knock on the door of the manager and sporting director to go.
“It's not the case here.
“So all the players know also what the story is for this season, and they know also that they're in a good spot to become a better player, and they still have a job to do here to become better.”
