Norwich City are still taking things game by game as their play-off target edges closer.

The Canaries took another step towards top-six qualification with a draw against Bristol City on Saturday, although Hull’s win over Coventry in midweek ensured they closed the gap to just three points.

Norwich remain favourites to hold onto their coveted league position, however, with mid-table Swansea visiting Carrow Road this weekend.

Head coach David Wagner said after that Robins stalemate that he wanted his players to get the job done as quickly as possible, but the Tigers' victory in Warwickshire means they'll have to slip up for City to confirm things against Luke Williams' side.

Goalkeeper Angus Gunn says they’ll continue to take things game by game as their pursuit of promotion continues.

“We’ve put ourselves in a good position,” he said after the draw. “We wanted to come here and make the gap bigger.

“Now it’s up to the other teams to try to chase us, and hopefully we can make the gap even bigger [against Swansea] and try to finish the job off.

“The whole season we’ve just been focusing on ourselves. We’ll see the results and watch the games, but it’s down to us at the end of the day.

“Another home game next week gives us a good opportunity to solidify ourselves in that play-off spot.”

The permutations of a win against the South Wales club are hard to ignore, but Gunn says nothing will change as a result.

“Potentially, yeah,” he continued when asked whether sealing the deal would be on the collective mind this week. “But I think when it’s a home game we always want to pick up the three points.

“We can’t control what the teams behind us do, whether they win or whether they don’t. From our point of view it doesn’t really matter.

“We’ve got our own job to do. We want to go into the end of the season in a positive way, and then hopefully take that into the play-offs.”
