Larkins to depart City Women at the end of the season

Larkins announced the decision to depart in order to pursue fresh opportunities outside of Norfolk and is stepping back from the game. 

The defender has been with City since 2008 and has been a mainstay in their promotion campaign this season. Larkins is the longest-serving member of the squad and is popular among her peers, supporters and wider within the club. 

She explained why she is taking the decision to step away from City as well as how much she will miss representing the club. 

"It's been an honour and a privilege to walk out wearing the badge every single week, particularly being captain of such an amazing team. It's an opportunity I've never taken for granted," she told City's official channels.

"Some of the opportunities and occasions that I've been a part of in the last couple of years, I never would have dreamed that I would have had the chance to be a part of.

"I want to say thank you to the coaching staff and those behind the scenes, particularly Flo, her influence in this club has been fantastic and her support has been unreal. I'd like to also thank the fans, we wouldn't be where we are today if it wasn't for your incredible support we've had over the last few years."

City's general manager Flo Allen paid tribute to Larkins and expressed her pride at the journey she has been on with the club during her 16-year stint. 

"Anna is the ultimate role model for the club and we are immensely proud of all that she has achieved since progressing through the clubs Girls' Centre of Excellence before becoming club captain.

"The leadership qualities that Anna has displayed both on and off the field have been instrumental, which is testament to her dedication, hard work and commitment through both the great and the indifferent moments.

"Anna has given her heart and soul to this team, as well as living and breathing yellow and green.

"She leaves the club with a lasting legacy, with the team in the strongest place it's ever been, credit to her leadership. Her impact on the football club extends over 15 years and she deserves enormous credit and recognition for her service.

"It has been a pleasure to work with Anna and, on behalf of everyone at the football club, we wish Anna the very best for the future."
