A transformation of confidence has been the key to Adam Idah's form while on loan at Celtic, as he straight-bats questions over his Norwich City future.

The Irish international pushed for a Carrow Road loan exit in January in order to better his development after growing frustrated at a lack of playing time at Norwich.

After a loan-to-buy offer from Italian side Hellas Verona, Celtic swooped to sign Idah, and the striker has netted seven goals and two assists in 10 matches during his time in Glasgow so far.

Idah is feeling the love in Glasgow, and that confidence has rubbed off to his on-pitch performances. In candid reflections about his time at Norwich, the 23-year-old has admitted it isn't something he has experienced in Norfolk to date.

“I am really enjoying playing up here," Idah said, quoted by the Irish Independent. "It's probably the most confident I have ever been. People can probably tell that when I am on the pitch and around the place, it's probably the best I have played and you can tell by the goals.

“Being that confident player is huge. When I was back at Norwich, I wasn't confident. I wasn't getting minutes. It's a difficult place to be in when you are not doing so well.

“I don't think you feel like you are going to miss every chance, it's more that if you do miss a chance, you think the world is ending, you feel everyone is on your back, you probably hear bad things more than you would if you were confident.

“It's a difficult place to be but there is always a way out and, thankfully for me, coming up here has been great for me.

“So to come here and have everyone behind me, the staff, the fans, has been great for me. I am loving it.”

The conversation in Scotland has already begun to shift to the future, with Idah only on a straight loan to Celtic with no option to buy.

Whether Idah would contemplate a return to Norwich remains to be seen, with the striker straight batting questions over his future beyond the summer.

“I don't know what's going to happen yet," he said. "I haven't thought about what's next for me. I am enjoying my football now, I will try and finish the season on a high and who knows? We will see.”
