Abu Kamara continues to add stardust to his glittering campaign on loan at Portsmouth, netting a key goal in their top of the table clash against Derby.

The Norwich City youngster has become a popular figure on the south coast and earned rave reviews for his performances as they continue their push for a Championship return.

Kamara, 20, latched onto a ball through from Colby Bishop before nutmegging the defender and finding the bottom corner to draw the contest level on the 27th minute after Joe Ward’s opener gave Paul Warne’s side the lead.

That takes his tally for goals this season up to seven, along with 12 assists in his 41 appearances for John Mousinho’s side.

Ward regained the lead for Derby before Owen Moxon’s strike from distance ensured Pompey recorded a point to move them onto 87 points and maintain their five point gap to the second placed Rams, with a game in hand.

"It was a brilliant goal," Mousinho told BBC Radio Solent. "Probably the first time that we moved the ball from side to side. It was a really good ball out to Joe Rafferty, then he plays it out to Colby, and it's a clever in-to-out run from Abu.

"We're in a healthy spot and need to make sure we follow it up with a win at the weekend. We've put ourselves in a very good spot."

Kamara was sent out on loan to Fratton Park to continue his development after scoring 13 goals in 15 Premier League Two games for City’s U21s last season.

Plenty of clubs have watched Kamara in action this season, but the hope currently is that the youngster can return to Carrow Road in pre-season and form part of their squad.

The attacker is under contract at Norwich until 2025.

His immediate focus will be on dragging Portsmouth back to the second tier for the first time in 12 years.

Pompey have five games to finish the job and require seven points to complete the job. It would mark a fine first full season in professional football for Kamara.
