Young Norwich City defender Jaden Warner is set to be allowed to leave Norwich City on loan this month, with League Two side Notts County among those interested.

Norwich are currently weighing up their options as the choose the best destination for the 21-year-old, with no final decision taken.

Warner, who made his senior debut for Norwich earlier this season, has held talks with Notts County, and it is understood that the League Two side are keen to get the deal over the line but aren't the only interested party.

Norwich are prepared to sanction a loan for Warner after Grant Hanley and Ben Gibson's recent return from injury, plus Kenny McLean's transition to help boost their central defensive options and limit Warner's game time under David Wagner in the Championship.

The youngster has made two starts in the Championship against Blackburn and Cardiff but hasn't been involved in a matchday squad since November's 3-2 defeat to Watford.

Warner is highly-regarded at Norwich and could be suited to the possession-based football played by Luke Williams at Notts County. They have held a long-term interest in signing the City youngster on a temporary basis.

The Magpies sit fifth in League Two in their first campaign back in the EFL, having impressed with their expansive and progressive style of play.

Williams confirmed recently that the club would look to the transfer market for potential defensive recruits.

“In this game, you only get so many chances and I should think there will be a list of players that the club are very interested in and feel they may be able to bring them in to improve our performances," he told the Nottingham Post. "If we’re ambitious enough, then that is what will happen."

Ben Knapper is leading the club's transfer activity for the first time since succeeding Stuart Webber as sporting director in November.

Norwich are looking to trim their squad this month, with winger Tony Springett and under-21 defender Emmanuel Adeboyega also targeting loans away from the club to continue their development.

City are also open to incoming business this month - but could look towards long-term additions rather than instant fixes. The window opened formally on Monday.
