Carlos Corberan was left frustrated that his West Brom side weren’t able to inflict further damage on 10-man Norwich City.

For all of their possession, territory and dominance, the Baggies were only able to find the net once in their Boxing Day victory over the Canaries.

The result halted a run of one win in five for Corberan’s side and extended their gap to the play-off chasing pack to three points.

Borja Sainz’ dismissal before half-time made life more difficult for City but they were already second best in the encounter.

David Wagner introduced Grant Hanley and Danny Barth at half-time to offer more physicality in defending their own box, but it also provided an aerial threat from set pieces in the final stages.

Whilst content with the victory, the one fly in the ointment for Corberan was that side failed to kill off the contest with more goals.

"When you are playing in a game when you have one player more and you arrive in the last minutes, you need to increase the goal difference," Corberan said.

"If you arrive with a draw, you are going to keep doing exactly the same because the opponent will try to defend the point.

"When you arrive with two goals difference, the opponent will find it difficult to change the result, but when you arrive in the last minutes with only one goal difference, this is a dangerous score.

“Especially against a team who can use set pieces very well, and the transitions too. Norwich for me were dangerous with ten, because they have a lot of quality in their squad."

Corberan was delighted that his demand for improvement after Saturday’s off-colour performance at Middlesbrough was answered.

“In the previous game we didn’t perform well in general,” Corberan said. “The result for me is fair in terms of things we saw in the game, when we were playing against 11 and when we were playing against 10.

“After you have a negative result, it’s important to show reaction. After a negative result there are two types of reaction – positive and negative. A negative reaction would see the desire of the players decrease, a positive one would see the commitment and desire increase. I saw a very positive reaction from the team.”
