Gabriel Sara has moved to ease concerns that he could depart Norwich City in the upcoming January window by insisting he has 'no reason to leave'.

After a series of impressive individual performances despite Norwich's recent struggles, some supporters have begun to fear the Brazilian might be subject to strong interest from elsewhere in the upcoming winter window.

Sara has recorded five assists and as many goals in 16 Championship appearances this season - only Jonny Rowe has netted more for the Canaries since the start of the campaign.

He has been regularly touted with interest from the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A, with former City sporting director Stuart Webber saying there was 'strong interest' in his services during the summer.

Norwich managed to keep Sara and he has become an integral part of David Wagner's side, starting every game of the season so far alongside captain Kenny McLean.

Sara has moved to calm supporters' nerves and has reiterated that his focus is on helping Norwich return to the Premier League.

"Last season, it was the same thing. I saw some comments on Instagram and even had messages from friends in Brazil saying 'You're going to this place' but there was nothing happening.

"I'm happy here," Sara told the Pink Un. "I love playing for Norwich. My target and my focus is to get Norwich to the Premier League and play for Norwich in the Premier League.

"There is nothing happening and I hope I can play for Norwich for a few more seasons and very soon in the Premier League."

Sara was speaking after a fans' forum event that Norwich City hosted in Great Yarmouth, where supporters were invited to ask questions to the 24-year-old and colleague Jack Stacey.

One supporter did ask about his future and whilst the speculation may be unwanted, it is a compliment to how highly rated Sara is by the Canaries faithful.

That strength of feeling and connection with fans is partly why Sara feels so at home in Norfolk since making the life-changing move from Sao Paulo in July 2022.

"That's why I like to be here. I feel loved by the people and by the fans - they appreciate my football.

"I'm really happy here and there is no reason to leave. Hopefully, I will be here for a few more months or years, who knows."
