Jacob Sorensen played for the first time in three months as Norwich City under-21s beat Charlton Athletic 5-0 in the Premier League Cup.

The Danish midfielder started the game before being replaced at half time with the Canaries 1-0 up.

Fellow first-teamers Jaden Warner and Kellen Fisher also played, the latter scoring the third goal midway through the second half.

Sorensen is recovering from a pelvic injury sustained during pre-season and could return to first-team contention for Leeds United's trip to Carrow Road on October 21.

The 25-year-old has been training with the first team in recent weeks, and could play a big role for the Norfolk side after impressing in midfield under Wagner last season.

He has struggled with injuries since arriving at Carrow Road from Esbjerg in 2020, making only 66 appearances for the club in more than three years. His current contract runs out next summer, but City have the option to extend that by a further 12 months.

Borja Sainz hasn't featured for the development side since limping off injured in their 2-1 win over West Brom, but is focusing on first-team training and expected to be available soon.

Adian Manning opened the scoring for Alan Neilson's development group, before Ken Aboh doubled the lead with a tap-in after 58 minutes.

Fisher added to the scoreline three minutes later, before setting up Pedro Lima for 4-0. Joe Duffy then rounded off the scoring in added time, making it 5-0 in the 92nd minute.
