Powerful striker Quaine Bartley looks set to make his King’s Lynn Town debut against Norwich City on Saturday after signing from League Two AFC Wimbledon.

Bartley, 19, arrives at The Walks on a season-long loan deal and is Hughes' third signing of the summer.

“He’s a big centre forward and not just the target man – he’s got really good feet,” said Lynn boss Mark Hughes.

“He’s trained with us and he's a good finisher as well and he comes highly recommended from Wimbledon after two loans last year.

“Johnnie Jackson (Wimbledon manager) is a good friend of mine and he says in training he scores goals for fun. He just needs that chance now in men's football to get regular games.”

Bartley has already moved into club accommodation along with Cameron Hargreaves, Olly Scott and another new signing, Emmanuel Oke.

“We've got brilliant accommodation for the boys, which goes a long way and let's hope he settles in and he'll play a part, certainly over the weekend and the start of the season.”

Hughes lost last season’s top scorer, Gold Omotayo, to National League North champions AFC Fylde, but the Lynn boss may have a slightly different role for him.

“Obviously because of his size, he'll get compared to certain people, but I might play slightly differently and go with him, Jordan (Ponticell), Ben Stephens and Josh Barrett,” he said. “I've got four really good strikers at the moment and maybe three out of that four could play. He knows where he is, where he's at with the squad and he's happy with that, to fight for his place.”
