King’s Lynn Town Ladies rose to the occasion as hat-trick heroine Amy Magnus helped secure three points in a demolition of hosts Bowers & Pitsea in their ERWFL Premier Division fixture.

The recent run of poor form was finally put to bed as the Linnets put in a solid performance of entertaining, fast and free-flowing football to lift themselves off the bottom of the table.

Manager Michael Allesbrook said: “I’m really pleased with the Ladies performance today. We followed the game plan, they listened. And there was good work rate and communication on the pitch.

“We were good technically and we didn’t have to force the result considering our recent run of form. I’m really pleased for Amy Magnus, what a performance today.

“Three excellent goals from a player that has lacked confidence in recent weeks. Her smile says it all."

The opening goal came just four minutes in as Alice Collins found the net from close range amongst a sea of red shirts, as the hosts struggled to clear an in-swinging corner.

Lynn never really looked back, absorbing the Bowers' counter and playing some neat one-two passes on their own counter-attacks progressing up the pitch with speed.

When Bowers failed to clear their lines again, Magnus latched onto the ball to fire a rocket of a shot into the top corner.

A superb through ball from skipper Jodie Hopkins teed up Magnus for the third - and Hopkins did it again for the fourth goal, just before the break, with a well-placed ball in behind the Bowers defence finding Rachel Skinner, who fired low and hard into the bottom corner.

Magnus’ hat-trick came early in the second half as she again overwhelmed Bowers with her agility and speed.

Bowers' efforts were rewarded late in the game with a brace from Maddie Thomas, but by that time the game was well beyond them.
