Lowestoft and Yarmouth exacted revenge for an earlier away defeat with a convincing victory on a surprisingly good surface.

Director of rugby, and the day's man-of-the-match, Scott Nelson was cheered by what he described as L&Y's most complete and consistent win of the season.

The hosts started well and maintained the pressure and control for almost the entire match, scoring five tries to two - though Wymondham made the match a true contest.

L&Y started well and from a scrum Nelson dinked a chip 20 yards over the advancing defence for speeding centre Myles McAlone to gather in full flight, round the winger and fullback and finish brilliantly .

Then a drive from the L&Y pack took play from just inside the visitors half to only five metres out. Bursts from Jake Titterington, Marc Thomas and McAlone forced a penalty near the posts, and when Thomas nominated a scrum, his pick-and-go allowed flanker Lewis Davey to force his way over the line.

Davey missed his second attempt to convert and shortly afterwards Nelson missed a penalty attempt following a clean break from prop Wayne Nixon.

Wymondham forced a turnover and when fly-half Tom Wilson launched a huge kick into the L&Y 22, Josh Fewkes spilt the ball and Wilson followed through to score before adding the conversion.

With their possession L&Y should have been out of sight, but they kept their heads and scored again when Titterington burst back down the blindside, sucking in enough defenders for Tom Castleton to open out again and give Nelson the space to barge over by the posts.

Davey got the kick and L&Y deservedly led 17-7 at the break.

The second half was a more turgid affair as the temperature dropped and the legs became tired. Some dogged defence kept the home team out before a break from the scrum by Nelson gave hooker Chris Howe the chance to forced his way over.

Wymondham finally earned some continuous possession and good work from Barry O'Sullivan allowed winger Alex Brugger to squeeze in at the corner to reduce the arrears.

L&Y then went back to their previous game and excellent pressure from Ryan Oakes forced Wilson to kick straight to Steve Powles inside the goal area, who touched down and then converted.

The second half began with Lowestoft pressurising the Red & Blacks and only a try saving tackle from Martin kept them at bay. Twenty minutes into the half Wymondham's resolve was finally broken with Chris Howe crashing over to bring L & Y's tally to 22.

Like last week Wymondham responded putting L&Y under intense pressure but the home side defended with some skill however the line was finally breached after a ten minute spell of dogged defence by L&Y when Barry O'Sullivan put Alex Brugger away in the corner for his first try of the season.

There was still time left for Wymondham to get back into the game but some sloppy play on their own goal line allowed Lowestoft to have the last say as Wymondham tried to play rugby in their own in goal area and Steve Powles pounced on a loose ball to give the home side what seemed an emphatic home victory but Wymondham's first away victory cannot be too far away after this performance.
