Top Norfolk professional Neil Lythgoe has continued his winning ways with two victories in local events.

The Royal Norwich player won the pros' medal in the latest Norfolk Alliance meeting at Weston Park, where he shot three-under par 69 and pipped Andrew Collison by a stroke.

He followed up with a debut outing at Royal Worlington, which he played blind, and tied for first place with Collison (Bungay & Waveney Valley) after both players shot one-under par 69.

The two pros, helped by their amateur partners, also tied for the betterball team prize.

Collison, who had two birdies and a bogey, is a great enthusiast for Royal Worlington, near Mildenhall, which has been described as the best nine-hole course in the country, if not the world.

'It's a fabulous place, the course is good, the greens are good, you look forward to playing every shot - and every shot is a challenge. I played steadily and on the day one-under par was a decent score.'

Lythgoe also succumbed to the charms of the course: 'It's something special. I've always said I'd like to play there but had never got round to it. I was really impressed with it.'

On his first circuit Lythgoe was three-over as he adapted to the undulating greens and their tricky run-offs but he got the measure of the course on the second nine with a flurry of birdies.

He was fresh from his win at Weston Park, where he began his round with a birdie on the 10th and followed up with another on 15. Lythgoe bogeyed 18, where his approach to the green ricocheted into trees, but had more birdies on the third and fourth.

Lythgoe was back on the course the very next day for the Norfolk PGA pro-am and although he didn't score quite as well, with a one-over 73, he did take fourth place and get his first points for the 2010 order of merit - which he has won for the past two years.

The annual meeting of the Norfolk Alliance followed the competition and members agreed that competitors must hold active CONGU handicaps. Alan Winstanley (Sheringham) was elected president, David Hood (Hunstanton) re-appointed as auditor, Yvette Douglas (Royal Norwich) re-appointed as secretary/treasurer, Nigel Elmar (Fakenham) was elected as a committee member (amateur) and Lee Patterson (Royal Cromer) as committee member (professional).
