Wymondham's failure to put an 80 minute performance together once again proved costly as they gifted the visitors a 23-point lead following a dismal first half performance.
It was only after half-time that Wymondham made a game of it.
James Wyatt kicked Wymondham into the lead but from then on South Woodham took over, scoring four tries, two after Barry O'Sullivan received a yellow card, his second in as many weeks.
Having given themselves a mountain to climb, Wymondham responded well, smashing into the opposition, with the introduction of Wayne Moerdyk and John Greenwell giving the forwards more impetus. Forceful runs from O'Sullivan and Pena Sokia released Stephen Simms who scored, although Wyatt missed the conversion.
Wymondham were now playing with a ferocity and the forwards battered their way through for Mike Rout to score, this time Wyatt converting to bring Wymondham to within 11 points.
South Woodham recovered and Williams converted a penalty and a drop goal to keep Wymondham firmly rooted to the foot of the table.
