Snetterton has confirmed its calendar for 2011 – a year that promises to be one of the most exciting in the circuit's long history.

The Norfolk track is currently undergoing a 4m redevelopment to its site, with a new three-mile configuration, revamped spectator viewing and improvements to the circuit's other facilities.

And with this year also marking the track's 60th anniversary, Snetterton is aiming for a 2011 to remember.

The new Snetterton 300 layout is set to be officially unveiled in the spring, after which four of the UK's leading national championships will visit.

Circuit manager Jamie Hopper said: 'This is an important year for Snetterton and we're particularly excited about the launch of our new 300 circuit, which will provide new challenges for drivers and increased excitement and viewing opportunities for spectators.

'With another busy calendar ahead, we hope to see plenty of fans enjoying our new track and its facilities this season.'

A quartet of championships have confirmed that they will race on the new three-mile layout – a mile longer than the current track and the longest of three new configurations to be installed at Snetterton.

The first is a double headline encounter from the British Formula Three and GT Championships in May, followed by the UK's most popular car racing series – the British Touring Car Championship – in August.

Two-wheel fans will get to see the new layout in its prime a month earlier, when the British Superbike Championship tackle the new set-up for the first time.

The successful Lotus Festival, featuring racing and demonstrations from modern and classic Lotus machinery, takes place at the end of June, with the Citroen 2CV 24-hour race, Modified Live car show and a new Ma5da 12-hour Into The Night race are other stand-out events.

This winter's redevelopment work is the first phase of redevelopment work at the circuit by its owners, Motorsport Vision, who aim to add a conference centre, specialist retailers and workshops to the site over the coming years.

Motorsport Vision has also released a video simulation of the Snetterton 300 track layout, which will help see the circuit granted an FIA grade two licence – enabling it to host any international races below Formula One.

Motorsport Vision boss Jonathan Palmer added: 'We have used driver simulations of the track during its development to see exactly what it will feel like to race on, and I have made detailed layout evolutions as a result of this process.

'We are pleased to make the final simulation now publicly available, giving people a pretty good idea of what to expect. I think it's going to be superb.'
