She has been a promising talent for some time – and now Norwich's Emily Crowe is starting to deliver, with gold and silver on her Great Britain debut.

The 12-year-old Sprowston Community High School pupil put on her national colours for the first time as one of six world class start squad members in a Great Britain A team that took on Sweden, in an international friendly at Lilleshall National Sports Centre.

Crowe – a star of Attleborough's Norfolk Academy of Gymnastics (TNAG) – left the arena with team gold and an individual silver medal, underlining her blossoming talents.

And the success did not stop there for the Sprowston gymnast, who is backed by Broadland District Council. Crowe also claimed an impressive fifth place at the Espoir British Championships – one of the top national meetings in Crowe's current age group – in Guildford at the start of the month.

Her TNAG club-mate Polina Poliakova also promised much with a promising 18th place finish.

'I am really happy with my medals,' said Crowe.

'It was a great experience to get to meet the Swedish gymnasts and train with them.'

TNAG head coach Sara-Jane Inglis said: 'This is a hugely exciting time for Emily and she is starting to reap the rewards from her five years of hard work in gymnastics. It has been fantastic to see how she has matured in her approach to competitions in the last few months – she has become much more positive and confident, and this has shown in her performances.

'From the first time I worked with Emily when she was only seven, it was clear she was hugely talented and capable of becoming a very high level gymnast, but I had never dared to expect this level of success.

'The best part of it is that this is still really only the beginning for Emily.

'She will be moving up to junior level next year, where there are even bigger opportunities awaiting her.'

There are also events on this year's calendar for Crowe to get excited about. She will travel to Germany next weekend for a five-way international meeting

After that, Crowe will take part in the British apparatus finals at Liverpool's 7,000-seater Echo Arena on July 10 – where she is the only gymnast to qualify for the finals in all four pieces of apparatus.

'I'm very excited about the Germany competition and getting to compete abroad for the first time,' added Crowe.

'And I'm looking forward to the British apparatus finals too, although I'm a bit nervous about competing in such a huge arena!'
