New boys Wymondham Town will be happy with their first match in the top flight after holding Sterry Cup holders Cromer Town to a 2-2 draw on the opening day of their campaign on Saturday.

Last season's Division One runners-up earned their point thanks to a pair of goals from Jamie Speller, while Cromer – who beat Spixworth to win the Don Frost Cup a week ago – were indebted to Dale Wilton and Paul Winterbone.

Last season's Premier Division runners-up Blofield United fared better, beating visiting Sheringham 4-1.

Two goals from Dan McKail and strikes from Ben Morgan and Richard Brett were enough to see off the visitors, whose goal came from Paul Atkins.

In the only other top-flight match played on Saturday, Beccles and Spixworth drew 1-1 at College Meadow. Alan Remblance scored for the hosts while Jason Armes was on target for Spixworth.

There were plenty of goals in the First Division, with Bradenham Wanderers and promoted Norwich CEYMS leading the scoring honours with six-goal hauls.

Bradenham, who finished third last season, thumped Caister 6-0 with the goals shared around. Stuart Woodcock, Chris Hancy, Karl Bush, Ricky Forder and Oliver Ramsbotham were all on target, with an own goal thrown in for good measure.

Norwich CEYMS, last season's Division two champions, were 6-2 winners away to Poringland Wanders, who only finished one off the bottom last season.

There were two goals apiece for Brady LeDain and Darren Smith, with Lewis Allen and Matthew Adcock also on target. Poringland's goals came from Tom Vandenburgh and Vaughan Stevenson.

Lee Clarke bagged a hat-trick as Holt United ran out 5-1 winners at Horsford United. Shaun Steed and Kevin Moore were also on target for the visitors, Osa Odeh scoring for Horsford.

Brandon Town, relegated from the Premier Division last season, started the new campaign poorly, going down 2-1 at home to Stalham Town, whose goals came from Darren Patterson. Ian Bethell was on target for Brandon.

Corton were 3-2 home winners over Dersingham Rovers. Ryan Bloomfield, Paul Hunter and Ritchi High were on target for Corton, with the replies coming from Cameron Copeland and Paul English.

It was all square at Hindringham, where Ian Bulley scored for the hosts in a 1-1 draw with Long Stratton, for whom Kevin Willimott was on target.

Mundford, one of the pacesetters in Division Two last season, opened with a 3-1 win at Scole United, while Attleborough went down 3-1 at home to East Harling. In Division Four, Hoveton Wherryman beat Mattishall Reserves 6-1, while Bradenham Wanderers hit seven without reply at Spixworth Reserves in Division Five.
