After a week of preparations at the AIBA World Boxing Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan, the competitive action for Lowestoft's Anthony Ogogo begins tomorrow.
The 22-year-old Triple A boxer sets out on his path to securing a potential place in next year's Olympics, with his opening preliminary bout in the 75kg middleweight category against Korean Sung Woo on Saturday evening.
If successful here, Ogogo is likely to face the Russian number four seed Artem Chebotarev on Monday afternoon in potentially his toughest bout.
And with the destiny in his own hands, if Ogogo progresses through to Tuesday afternoon's third round against any one of four fighters from Senegal, Brazil, Australia, or the Seychelles he is then likely to face the fifth seed Algerian in the quarter finals next Wednesday afternoon.
But, by reaching the quarters of the Worlds, which run until October 10, Ogogo will have reached the automatic qualification standard for next year's London 2012 Olympic Games.
Therefore, much rests on the potential second round encounter with the Russian on Monday afternoon.
