King's Lynn striker Robbie Harris last night pleaded with the club's supporters to rally behind the Linnets following joint boss Kevin Boon's resignation.

Boon stepped down following a personal dispute with centre back Paul Cousins which also involves Harris. Matters came to a head following Saturday's FA Cup 4-2 win over Quorn. Harris netted the first before being withdrawn early in the first half - and the striker is now poised to take a short term break from playing.

Harris, however, confirmed he will be present at Deeping tonight where Boon's former joint boss Gary Setchell will be in sole charge.

The striker issued a statement late on Monday night on a club messageboard. It read: 'Hi everyone. I have been thinking long and hard about writing on here. I've decided to say a few things.

'Firstly I would like to go on record and say a massive thank you to everyone for the support that has been shown in me. It really does mean a lot in a time that has been really difficult for me.

'I'm not going to go into things that have happened as at the moment - it's between me and my family. I would please ask you, if you don't know what has happened please do not pass judgement on what you think may have happened. Things I believe will come out and everybody will know the truth. I would ask at this point if you would not talk about it on an open forum.

'Let's not forget that there is a big game for the club and it will be great if as many of you can make it to rally the troops on to get the three points we need. I am going to be there tomorrow and would like to ask everyone that if you see me, please do not approach me and ask if I'm ok. For me this will only make things harder. Once again thank you. Robbie Harris.'

Boon admitted earlier in the day he was 'gutted' at the manner of his exit from his second spell in charge of the town's senior football club. The Linnets' also released an official statement stating they were 'saddened' to hear of Boon's resignation due to what they termed a 'fall out' with ex-Wisbech skipper Cousins, but the club echoed Harris's wish not to publicise the nature of the incident which led to Boon's decision.
