King's Lynn Town manager Gary Setchell praised his side's second half performance claiming it 'righted a few wrongs' as he saw his side stroll to an impressive 6-0 victory over Northampton Spencer.

Robbie Harris, Danny Beaumont and Stephen Spriggs grabbed a brace each.

Setchell said: 'I wasn't very happy first half because we weren't meeting the high standards we set last Saturday. We had players ambling back and they got told off at half-time. We came out second half and played how I want us to play, we pressed and some of the football we played in the second half was a different class. We demoralised Northampton Spencer in the end'.

Linnets boss Setchell left striker Jack Defty and new signing Rob Hughes on the bench but there was a start for Jamie Thurlbourne, who had returned from an injury.

After a shaky start from the hosts, Northampton Spencer missed a gilt edge chance after hesitancy in the Linnets back-line. King's Lynn Town suffered a set-back when centre-half Stuart Wall had to be stretchered off with a serious looking knee injury, Dan Buhlemann was the man to replace him.

The home side recovered well and took the lead in the 12th minute, Harris tapping home after neat football from Spriggs and Pat Bexfield. Lynn were totally dominating the early exchanges and almost stretched their lead when a Jamie Thurlbourne free-kick forced Quincy Shorunmu into a superb stop. Spriggs also went close minutes later following a flowing move and Luke Thurlbourne stung Shorunmu's palms.

Beaumont was the next one to go close but again Shorunmu was equal to his effort. The visitors grew more into the game as the half went on and Darren Frost almost curled in a stunning equaliser after a loose pass from Buhlemann, Frost's strike floated just over the crossbar.

Harris was inches away from doubling his and Lynn's tally as his fierce effort struck the post. Lynn did double their lead on 38 minutes, Beaumont's sharp turn and finish no more than Setchell's side deserved.

The hosts started the second half in much the same manner and Luke Thurlbourne's driving strike was expertly tipped away by Shorunmu. The away keeper was having a busy day and had to be alert to deny Harris after a delightful pass from Jamie Thurlbourne. Shorunmu was beaten again minutes later when Harris nodded home from Spriggs' superb cross.

The Linnets were running riot and Spriggs added a fourth on 52 minutes with a swerving shot after some more neat football. The Walks faithful were given their first glimpse of new signing Hughes as he replaced Luke Thurlbourne just before the hour mark. Beaumont grabbed his second of the game with a beautiful diving header after a scintillating run and cross from Jordan Yong.

Spriggs made himself the third player to bag a brace when he finished with ease with only four minutes remaining. Then the former Wroxham winger missed a glorious chance for his hat-trick, clipping the ball wide when one on one with the overworked Shorunmu.
