King's Lynn boss Gary Setchell insisted yesterday the UCL Premier Division underdogs can claim a major FA Cup scalp after landing a fourth qualifying round trip to Conference Premier foes Tamworth.

Setchell will relish the chance to take his side back to one of his former clubs on October 29 bidding for a place in the first round proper. The Linnets' chief is under no illusions Town will need to rely on some of the fabled magic associated with the world famous competition to help them progress against the Lambs.

'Of course not many will give us a chance,' he said. 'We'll be massive underdogs on the day but this is what the FA Cup is all about. And we all know David has his day in this competition on a regular basis. I either wanted a step one or a step four club. If we had got a step two or three I don't think there is any real romance or cup magic in one of those ties.

'Tamworth have been at that level now for a number of years. They are a hardened Conference outfit, they have got the experience, but from my point of view we can actually go and enjoy the game because it'll be one of the few times this season when there is no pressure on us and we are not expected to win. They will have to have an off day and my players will need to show the same levels of desire and commitment that we showed at the weekend against Stratford.'

Setchell knows from first hand experience what to expect at The Lamb after making 18 appearances at the start of the 2003/04 season prior to re-joining his hometown club.

'I played three years at that level and it is probably one of the most hostile grounds you can go to in non league,' he said. 'The fans are right on top of you and they let you know so I'll be bringing the tin hat with me. It will be a great experience for our lads and they deserve a decent tie and I believe we have got one. I wanted a Conference side as a reward for what we had done in the competition to get that far.

'They are tenth in the Conference and with a game in hand on the sides around the play-off spots. I don't know for sure but you don't get into that position unless you are a full-time set up so that underlines the scale of the task.'

Setchell expects Lynn's loyal fan base to travel in large numbers.

'It's a great one for the fans,' he said. 'If you speak to the hardcore ones who have followed King's Lynn week in, week out for years they would say there is a real non league rivalry that has built up with Tamworth. I know last season we had one going with St Neots but Tamworth is a game they will look forward to and I know they will travel in big numbers. Of course it would have been nice to be at home again but I guess on the law of probabilities we were going to have to go away at some time.'

Lynn booked their Tamworth tie with a comeback win against Midland Alliance outfit Stratford at the weekend. Midfielder Danny White's 87th minute winner clinched a fifth consecutive home victory in the cup competition.

'Stratford were a decent side who have massively underachieved this season,' said Setchell. 'I was speaking to their manager after the game and they have a more than decent budget and he still feels they are capable of winning their own league. At 1-0 down so early on we could have folded but the boys really responded.'

Meanwhile, Town officials have confirmed the signing of Rob Hughes. The well-travelled midfielder had been a long time target of the Linnets and will be available for Saturday's game against Northampton Spencer.
