EAST MEN'S LEAGUE: Norwich City's best performance of the season so far was not enough to prevent Premier A Division leaders West Herts wrapping up a 3-0 win at Watford on Saturday.
City held off the early Herts pressure and twice could have taken the lead before the hosts eventually went ahead in the 30th minute from a short corner.
The visitors continued to frustrate Herts until two late goals sealed City's fate to keep them bottom of the table.
Dereham paid the price for a slow start at Bishop's Stortford as they crashed to a 4-1 defeat, handing the hosts their first victory of the season.
The home side capitalised on three early chances to take a 3-0 lead, and Dereham were left to concentrate on hanging on until half-time without suffering further damage.
Dereham came out firing in the second half and after Mark Hunter's drag flick was stopped on the line by a defender's foot, Hunter himself dispatched the resulting penalty flick.
The visitors pushed hard for a way back into the game, but were hit on the break as Stortford added a fourth goal.
In Division 2N, Norwich City II piled on the misery for bottom side Cambridge Nomads with a 3-1 success at the UEA.
City's first half pressure finally paid off when Matt Brine fired them ahead from a short corner and they went two up after the break through James Bradley-Watson's deft touch. Nomads got a goal back but Sam Bloom swept in City's third to secure the points.
City's third team lost 3-2 at Harleston Magpies V in Division 3NE.
Guy Marchant and Chris Baker had given City a 2-0 lead, but panic set in after Magpies pulled one back and the hosts went on to claim victory.
There was also defeat for City's fourth team, who lost 6-1 at Ipswich & East Suffolk II in Division 4NE, with Tim Armstrong on target for City.
Norwich Dragons II secured a comfortable 5-2 victory at home to Sudbury III.
Danny Cheeseman opened the scoring for Dragons with a powerful reverse stick strike and although Sudbury equalised, Andy Kelsall restored the hosts' advantage just before half-time.
Dragons dominated the second half and Kelsall scored again, while Cheeseman netted twice more to complete his hat-trick before a late goal for Sudbury.
Ben Cushion and David Broadway were on target for Norwich City V as they drew 2-2 with Dereham V in Division 5NE.
Norwich City VI were 2-1 winners over Ipswich & East Suffolk V, with David Woodward and Dave Kidner scoring for City.
