The City League Sprowston are back at the top of the City Of Norwich Short Mat Bowls League.

The hosts beat Framingham Earl 14-0 (P Smart 25-2, D Dewing 20-4 ,T Fletcher 10-8 and J Poynter 12-7).

Earlier, Framingham Earl had beaten Felthorpe 14-0 at home (R Lumley 11-10, C Emms 10-9, M Blaza 14-9 and K Bunn 14-7). They also beat County Council 10-4 at home, with K Bunn winning 18-4. N Hurn, fresh from his hip operation, won 14-3 for County Council. RG Carter also played at home to County Council, coming out on top by 12-2, with T Brown winning 20-6 and N Willard 19-6. N Hurn's triple scored Council's two points.

Carter then played at home to Deaf Sports and again they found them a tough nut to crack, winning 9-5 despite only having one winning triple. If the City Shield final is Deaf against Carter it looks to be set for a close game.

Thorpe Marriott have moved into seconds place after a 14-0 home win over Horsford BC (B McPherson 15-8,T Turner 22-8, G Clarke 14-8 and S Turner 10-6).

Old Bonds are on a roll – they went to Taverham and won 11-3 then played British Rail at home and won 13-1, which moves them up to third from bottom.

County Council had a hectic time – they played away to Felthorpe and won 10-4, with old-timer Malcolm Roe winning 15-3, and then beat Deaf Sport 14-0 at home. Council's final game was at Jarrolds where they lost 11-3 .

Deaf Sports have qualified for the City League Shield Final after beating Taverham 14-2 ,and will play either RG Carter or Horsford Heroes in the final.
