West Norfolk manager Nigel Richardson admits some of his players were thankful to have last weekend off ahead of his side's trip to Southwold tomorrow.

Richardson's charges were without a game on Saturday but remain in fourth place in the Greene King Eastern Counties Division One table after Ipswich YMCA lost to Cantabrigian.

With his side just one point ahead of their Suffolk counterparts, Richardson is hopeful his outfit can return to winning ways this weekend as they look to cement a fourth-placed finish.

'In some ways it was nice to not have a game on Saturday,' said the West boss

'It was a bonus for those with niggling injuries and hopefully after an added rest we can push on in our remaining games to hold onto fourth place. Ipswich have made some changes and are a much improved side so they'll be pushing us all the way.

'Our young side has learnt a lot this season and we've enjoyed our away days. Hopefully the journey home will have an even better atmosphere than normal because we've picked up a win.'

West should have a full squad to chose from apart from vice-captain Paul Denton who is unavailable.

Elsewhere, Wisbech will be hoping to keep the pressure up on table-topping Cantabrigian by collecting another win - and bonus point - at Crusaders.

Coach Ben McCall said: 'We need to keep our momentum going in the run in and we want no losses with a potential promotion play-off looming. We've need to secure the win then worry about getting tries on the board.

'We played well against Mersea Island last week but we were disappointed to concede two tries. The result and the bonus point was what we needed though and we're after exactly the same this weekend.'

Will Pettit, Tom Martell and Graham Saunders will miss second-placed Wisbech's match in Norwich.
