Stars team boss Rob Lyon is backing guest Kenneth Bjerre to deliver the goods tonight as King's Lynn welcome Coventry Bees to the Norfolk Arena.

Former Lynn rider Bjerre temporarily returns to Saddlebow Road to replace fellow countryman, and red-hot Stars number one, Niels-Kristian Iversen who is riding for his Danish side Esjberg.

Iversen top-scored for Lyon's outfit on Friday when they ended Poole's 18-match unbeaten record with a sensational 49-41 victory and sits third in the Elite League averages.

In contrast, Bjerre has struggled for Peterborough Panthers this campaign – but Lyon believes the Dane is returning to form and can score well for Lynn this evening.

The Stars manager said: 'It was agreed that with all the rain-offs a guest facility could be put in place if riders had meetings abroad when a fixture was re-arranged.

'It's a shame Niels can't ride and there's no denying we will miss him, but you have to have confidence and faith in your replacement.

'After watching Kenneth at Peterborough last week (he scored 14 points against Coventry) I'm confident that if he puts in the same sort of performance for us we'll be more than happy.

'Some supporters may be a bit nervous about it given some of his last few meetings, but you have to look at his current form, not just in England. He's been scoring points abroad which has been helping him.

'Last Thursday he looked quite dominant and his starts were very quick. If he can reproduce that sort of form I'm sure he can score similar points to Niels with the rest of the boys filling in well too.'

Lyon insists his side must build on Friday night's victory, which left Stars supporters in euphoric mood after stunning 5-1 wins in heats 14 and 15 clinched a famous win.

'It was the meeting of the season for us and definitely our highlight, because we've not had too many,' said Lyon.

'It was a big boost, but we don't want to get too carried away. It was a great night, a great victory, but in reality it was just one more match.'

Fifth-placed Lynn clinched a losing point at Coventry in April, but the Bees have struggled since and sit ninth in the league.

Two of Britain's squad who will ride at Saddlebow Road during Monday's World Cup meeting – Chris Harris and Scott Nicholls –will feature for the visitors tonight.

King's Lynn: 1 Kenneth Bjerre (Guest), 2 Mads Korneliussen, 3 Maciej Janowski, 4 Kevin Wolbert, 5 Daniel Nermark, 6 David Howe, 7 Mateusz Szczepaniak.

Coventry: 1 Chris Harris, 2 Aaron Summers, 3 Edward Kennett, 4 Kenni Larsen, 5 Scott Nicholls, 6 Adam Roynon, 7 Henning Bager.
