A stronger than forecast south easterly breeze was a delight for helms competing in series C at Beccles ASC last Saturday.
Nineteen boats made for an exciting start and crowded beat up to the windward mark during race one of the King George V Pennant. Chris Abbot was soon out in front in his 8.1 Laser 'Big Mac' but not far enough to prevent Rory Kelsey in 'Tankard', Jonathan Blankley in 'Blue RS Fly' and Charlie Folkard in 'Shadow Surfer' all finishing ahead on corrected time.
In race two Abbot carved out a massive two-minute lead over Blankley, enough this time for the win with Glen and Lucie in Polyarchy a close third.
The five-strong Topper fleet enjoyed some close racing. Rachael Folkard in Moody Margaret led for most of race one to take the win from Rowan Curtis and Poppy Roll. Race two required a photo finish as Roll was just beaten to the line by Folkard with Curtis only a fraction of second behind in third.
On Sunday, victories went to Charlie Folkard in his Laser and Glen and Lucie Curtis in Norfolk Penelope Jane.
