Diss Tigers Joe Collett, 11, from Harleston, in Norfolk, and Harrison Tompkins, 10, from Mendham, in Suffolk, are among just a few youngsters across the country to be given the opportunity to train in Milan over three days in the Easter holidays.

There they will train with AC Milan's academy coaches who develop the footballers who go on to play for AC Milan itself.

Joe and Harrison both train with Coerver Coaching Norfolk Performance Academy in Norwich, which specialises in teaching premier league European football skills to promising young players.

Joe, who would like to play for Chelsea when he's older, said: 'I'm looking forward to it. It feels pretty good to be going.'

He is even learning some Italian for the trip.

Proud mum Sue Kuzmic said: 'We're extremely proud that he's been selected to have this opportunity to go to AC Milan. It will be quite an experience to meet people from one of the top teams in Europe and get the chance to improve his skills in a completely different environment.'

Harrison, who wants to play for Barcelona, said: 'It's going to be an amazing experience. I can't believe I'm going. I'm really looking forward to it.'

Mum Tracey said: 'It's such a great opportunity. He's really excited.'

Graham Hinton, Norfolk academy director, said: 'Coerver training is more about ball mastery, skill and technique than learning tactics. The ball almost becomes part of them. They learn how to pass the ball at pace, take on several players at once, and they learn to be equally good with both feet. It's premier league training, and the experience of going to clubs like AC Milan, and in future Barcelona, will help to prepare them for life as top-level players.'
