Assistant manager Neil Fryatt admitted King's Lynn Town's thrilling 4-3 win at Ilkeston Town last night was 'for the gaffer'.

Gary Setchell missed the seven-goal humdinger in Derbyshire as he remained by his ill son Danny's side in the town's Queen Elizabeth Hospital. And after watching the Linnets, who were reduced to 10 men early in the second half, come out on top, Lynn's number two said the win was for their missing manager.

Fryatt said: 'That result was definitely for the gaffer. We all wish him and his son Danny the best. Danny comes with us to most games, we all know him, so we want the best for him. That was for the gaffer.

'What can I say about the lads? They were unbelievable. They dug deep, had things go against them, came again, weathered the storm a little bit when they went ahead at 3-2. I told the lads we've got to hang in together this year. It's going to be a difficult year.

'But if they show that passion, that desire, and some great ability in with that I don't think we'll go far wrong.'

Lynn went 1-0 down, undeservedly, before they took a 2-1 lead into the break thanks to goals from Rob Duffy and George Thomson.

Ryan Clarke was harshly sent off after the restart and the 10-man visitors found themselves 3-2 down with 10 minutes left. But amazingly they equalised through Dan Jacob before Ewan Clarke poached a late winner.
