Lowestoft Town have been rocked by the news that Dave Carolan has left his position within the Trawlerboys' management team.

During his five-and-a-half years at Crown Meadow, Carolan played a key role in the club's rise through the non-league pyramid. However, due to an increase in the fitness and conditioning coach's commitments to his Sports App business and other demands on his time, the former Norwich City sports scientist felt it was the right time to leave Crown Meadow.

'I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Trawlerboys,' he told the club's official website.

'What we as a management team have achieved alongside the players over the last five-and-a-half years is testament to the hard work and commitment of everyone at the club. For my part I have enjoyed every minute of my time at The Crown Meadow, and each year we have progressed to new levels.

'I would like to place on record my thanks to Gary Keyzor for all he has done to support our work with the team and to all the players who have bought into what we were trying to achieve.

'Most especially though to Mick (Chapman), Ady (Gallagher) and Craig (Fleming) who have worked tirelessly to develop the players, team and club, with their knowledge, unquestionable commitment and good humour. I wish everyone at the club all the best for the rest of the season and beyond.'

With responsibility for developing and maintain the conditioning of the Blues squad, the fitness of Lowestoft's players was the envy of many clubs at their level.

The management team were keen for Carolan to stay ahead of their trip to Wealdstone this afternoon in the Ryman League Premier. However, they understand his decision and wish him all the best for the future.

A club statement said: 'Dave's professionalism, integrity and unwavering high standards, along with his enthusiasm and sense of humour has made him a popular figure around the club.

'Dave has made an outstanding contribution during the most successful period in the club's history. Along with the players, back-room staff, chairman and everyone involved at the football club, we would like to thank Dave for his wonderful contribution and express our gratitude for the excellent work that he has done.

'Although we are extremely sad to see him go, we would like to wish Dave continued success and with his new projects.'
