Gary Setchell wants to extend the gap between King's Lynn Town and one of their fellow promotees as the season continues.

The Linnets may already be 10 points ahead of Trafford going into this afternoon's Evo-Stik Premier Division clash between the sides at The Walks. But Lynn's manager is only interested in increasing the distance, rather than relaxing after his team's fine efforts, for the remainder of the campaign.

Setchell, whose side didn't play at Buxton on Saturday because of a waterlogged pitch, said: 'We've had two really good training sessions this week where the lads have worked very hard.

'We sat down initially and I laid out a few home truths about where we've got to improve. I'm not taking anything away from how well we've done, but there are areas we can improve on. A couple of clean sheets away from home between now and the end of the season wouldn't go amiss.

'I've told our midfielders and strikers, players like Andy Hall, Jake Jones and George Thomson, that they need to start finding the form they did a month or two ago because their levels have dipped a bit. They, and everyone, took it on board and came in this week and put in some really hard work.

'Hopefully tomorrow we will see that – and a winning performance.'

Lynn, who won Evo-Stik Division South last term, sit eighth while their Northern set-up counterparts, promoted through the play-offs, are in 14th.

Setchell's side won the reverse fixture 2-1 at Shawe View last month thanks to goals from Rob Duffy and Ewan Clarke. The former is a doubt today after tweaking his hamstring in training. His fitness will be assessed before kick-off. Goalkeeper Alex Street and midfielder Dan Quigley are suspended. Norwich City's young shot-stopper Ben Killip will make his debut after moving to The Walks on a short work experience deal.

'I believe we've slightly overachieved this season so far,' said Setchell, whose men at just three points outside of the play-off places following back-to-back promotions. 'We've added one or two quality players but we can't take anything for granted, we've got to keep working because we could finish anywhere between fifth and 11th. There are a lot of teams vying for those positions. We may have played one or two games more than the teams around us but that could actually work in our favour.

'You don't know what the weather is going to do and we could have a little cold snap yet. If there are a couple of call-offs some teams will have 14 or 15 matches to play and they'll be having three games a week. That's not easy at any level. At lot could develop in the next eight weeks.'
