Paul Sandford, at the Railway Tavern, has produced T-shirts in England colours, featuring the nation's badge and fixtures. In recognition of the large Portuguese community in Dereham, he has also produced similar tops in Portuguese colours.

It is hoped the initiative will help defuse tension witnessed between England and Portugal fans in previous tournaments and create a happy multicultural feel in the town.

Both shirts will raise funds for the Light Dragoons Colonel's Appeal, and there will be a range of other activities at the Yaxham Road pub.

Mr Sandford said: 'We've got a large contingent of Portuguese in Dereham and I want to show them they are welcome to come down; everybody is welcome, not just England fans.'
