Boss Stewart Larter has stated how pleased he is with the way his Wroxham side have started their pre-season work.

The new Yachtsmen chief has been busy since his arrival from Gorleston in May, with various comings and goings in terms of personnel promising for a very new look Wroxham when the season begins next month. And Larter had said how delighted he is with the way his new signings have fitted in with the old group.

He said: 'The thing that's really pleased me has been how the new lads have blended in. All the lads who were already there have made them feel really welcome – which was something I was a little bit worried about if I'm honest – but it's been really good in the four sessions we've had so far and the more they train and play together will only make this better.'

'I've been pleased with the work ethic and quality we've shown in training so far and Cedric (Anselin, assistant) and Danny (Self, player/coach) have done a fantastic job at getting the boys to the level of fitness they are now.'

'For me, it's all about a clean sheet of paper and all of the lads – especially the youngsters – have really impressed me. Danny Rust and Aaron Sanders look really good, as does Aaron Taylor but that's just the tip of the iceberg.'

The Yachtsmen play their first pre-season friendly on Friday when they travel to Thurlow Nunn outfit Thetford Town.

'Friendlies are really important, but especially for us this year as there is a lot of new faces and it's important that we get people to know each other on the pitch; the centre halves, the two strikers, the goalkeeper and the back four. These relationships are all crucial,' he said

Larter also admitted he is still looking to bring in a couple more new faces - most notably AFC Sudbury's forward Jamie Forshaw – with a deal for him, plus a couple others very close to completion.

He added: 'There's a couple loose ends to tie up with Sudbury (for Forshaw) but hopefully we should get that done fairly quickly. There are still also a couple others we are speaking to that we want to get closed out, but should nothing happen with these I would be more than happy with what we've got.'

'Jack Guyton has also left and gone to Sudbury which is a big disappointment for me as he was one of the players I spoke to and stressed that I wanted him to stay. But he's decided to take that route so I'm not going to be critical on his decision, but I am sad to see him go.'
