Wroxham boss Stewart Larter insists that his side have still got plenty of room for improvement as they prepare to host Romford, writes Thomas Crabb.

The Yachtsmen's 2-1 win away at Tilbury last Saturday ended a slight blip in form which had seen Larter's men fall to three defeats in four games. And Larter admits that his side have been slightly off colour of late.

He said: 'We didn't play well against Waltham Abbey and lost. We pushed Harlow in our game with them but we were nowhere near our best and to be honest last weekend we didn't play great but came away with all three points.

'As a manager I'm always looking at the areas we can improve and there are definitely still places in our game that we can do this; we've had a good start and we are in a fairly healthy position and we have a lot that we can certainly build on.'

Larter praised striker Christy Finch – whose two goals against Tilbury took him to double figures for the season.

'He's always aspired to play at this level and he's started well,' Larter stated.

'You know he's always going to score goals at whatever level he plays at as that's what he really enjoys doing but on the other hand he was really honest in realising he had to improve his physical play and hold-up play, which he has done.'

Matt Halliday is suspended for the Yachtsmen against 17th-placed Romford, with fellow defender Ben Price and winger Jack Garrod both also unavailable.
