Dereham Town will be desperate to not drop any further points this evening as the battle to reach the Ryman North play-offs continues to hot up.
The Magpies occupy the final place in the top five after being held to a 2-2 draw at the weekend against Great Wakering Rovers. While that slip-up – which saw Matt Henman's men blow a two-goal lead – failed to end the club's six-game unbeaten league run, it did allow them to be leapfrogged in the table by Norfolk rivals Wroxham.
Stewart Larter's Yachtsmen are without a game, however, and know they could be pushed back down to sixth by the end of the night if both Dereham, at home to lowly Barkingside, and Brentwood, who welcome second-placed Needham Market, win their fixtures.
The promotion-chasing Magpies will be aiming to catch their visitors cold as they haven't featured in Ryman League action since they edged Heybridge Swifts 2-1 on February 9. But the Essex outfit have won their last three matches to improve their chances of avoiding the drop and will be battling for their lives as they only remain out of the relegation zone by virtue of goal difference.
