Swindon Robins 55 King's Lynn Stars 37

King's Lynn Stars failed to back up Niels-Kristian Iversen as they went down 55-37 to Swindon last night.

The Stars beat the Robins 53-40 on home shale on Wednesday, but couldn't repeat the trick at Blunsdon as Hans Andersen and Nick Morris led the way for the hosts with 13 and 11+3, with the duo ably backed up by Grzegorz Zengota who scored eight.

Iversen managed 11 for Lynn, but it wasn't enough to stop the Stars from slipping to their second Elite League loss of the season, as fellow big hitter Kenneth Bjerre only managed three from his four rides.

Lynn looked to be getting off to the perfect start as Iversen and Robert Lambert gated on a 5-1 in heat one, but home guest Andersen worked his way into second to limit the damage before Kyle Newman claimed Swindon's first heat one as Lewis Rose backed him up in third to tie the teams at six.

The sides stayed tied as Bjerre led home Chris Harris and Morris in heat three, with Rory Schlein packing up while the Stars were on a 5-1, but Swindon struck the first major blow in heat four as Zengota and Newman combined for the first maximum of the evening. Kyle Howarth and Lambert picked up where they left off in the British Under 21 Final a week ago as the Robins man got the better of the teenager in a shared heat five, before the hosts took full control of matters with back to back maximums.

The first came courtesy of a masterful ride by Morris, who held off Iversen in third as Zengota took the win, before guests Andersen and Harris combined for a victory from the gate to give the Robins a 12-point lead. The Stars bit back at the earliest opportunity as Lambert and Kerr produced a superb display of team riding to hammer in their side's first maximum, before Howarth's victory in heat nine edged Swindon's lead back to 10 and left Rob Lyon in tactical territory.

He used it on Iversen but, for the fourth time in two nights, the Dane was outfoxed by Swindon youngster Morris as Harris finished third to ensure the Stars' black and white ride ended in a 4-4 share.

Two more shared races followed before a 4-2 heat advantage on race 13 secured the win on the night for the Robins as Andersen beat Iversen. Lynn's chance of a point vanished in heat 14, with another win for Morris, as the Stars returned home with nothing to show for their efforts with Swindon scoring another 5-1 in the last.
