Norwich's Morello Racing enjoyed its best day yet – thanks to their home track and a genuine two-wheeled talent.

The short trip from Bowthorpe to Snetterton was a dream one for Morello, as 21-year-old Northern Irishman Josh Elliott produced a stunning last-corner overtake to clinch victory in front of more than 20,000 spectators, in one of the British Superbike Championship's lead support series.

Even team owner and Norfolk motorsport stalwart Steve Buckenham acknowledged the championship leader's impressive Superstock 1000 manoeuvres will attract plenty of attention come the end of the season.

But that got nowhere near dampening a special day that may yet be a precursor to autumn silverware.

'To me that's the best win we've ever had,' he smiled.

'To come here and be part of this, and actually beat the factory team, it's fantastic for us. We're a relatively small team, we set everything up ourselves – and I'd rate Josh very highly. You couldn't ask any more from him. We are the little country team, who have now taken it to the Tyco BMW factory team.

'I've got to say, I think there will be several teams looking to take Josh away from us – but we are a family team and I don't think all the teams would give him what we can give him.

'He has got to be a settled rider and you can see he's that now – a settled rider and a talented rider as well.

'There's a long way to go in the championship and no doubt BMW will go away again and try to come up with another cunning plan. But we'll just keep rattling them as we go along, and all you can say is they've been rattled today.'
