Wroxham's new management team saw their new era get off to a familiar losing start.
David Coyle and Kaine Challen are in charge following the departure of Damian Hilton, and having beaten Phoenix at Trafford Park earlier this season when their opponents were top of the table, it was a rare chance for a double.
Wroxham held the Kent side until the break but had created enough chances to be in front – Craig Bussens hit the bar, Matt Cook missed a one on one with the keeper and Ross Gilfedder got himself clear but his shot hit the keeper.
Phoenix went ahead three minutes into the second half and although Elliot Pride saved a penalty, they sealed it five minutes from time.
Coyle said: 'I can't question their attitude and Elliot Pride didn't have a real save to make all game as we created six good scoring opportunities. But we just lack that instinct to put those chances away,' he said.
