Wensum F returned to winning ways in Division One of the Norwich and District League with a solid 7-3 home win over Electricity.
The win was largely down to a maximum from Ross Gray and two singles wins from Ben Richmond, who paired up with Ross to win the doubles. Dave Fordham of Electricity chopped his way to two singles victories for the visitors.
Taverham were the first team this season to complete the double over NCC A, thanks to a 7-3 win. John Vaughan was the outstanding player for the visitors, putting in three very good performances to win each of his singles and then pairing up with Eric Melvin to claim the doubles. Jack Harrowing weighed in with two singles wins. There were some very close matches, but NCC came off second best in most cases.
Foxwood H just edged a close match against Gothic D 6–4, although it could easily have been a win for Gothic, but for Bob King's maximum and a double from Ian Layt.
Ceyms E were down to two players against league leaders Foxwood G, but managed a 4-6 loss. A high quality game was enjoyed between two heavyweights of the division. Foxwood's Mark Trett edged out Ceyms' Keith Hunt. Later, Ceyms' Mark Bishop recovered from 5-1 down in the fifth to beat Ian Taylor and set up a doubles decider. In a fantastic finish of great retrieving, including a 17-15 set, the Trett/Taylor duo got through 11-9 in the fifth, and Foxwood took another win.
The position at the top of Division Three remains the same, with Ex-Choristers very firmly in first place followed by Taverham D and Tankards. Taverham D and Tankards have now played their outstanding match from week 19, with Taverham D the winners 6-4 thanks to a Jack Stubbs maximum.
Wensum J lost to Ex-Choristers 8-2 in an exciting match which was closer than the scoreline suggests. Ex-Choristers' experience and class shone through with an excellent comeback from Steve Smith after being two sets down to win in style against Ed Horton. An excellent performance from Alex McRobie gave Wensum J their two games.
UEA E drew 5-5 with Club 75.
