Will Evans will have another shot at world glory with England Under-20s this summer.

The Norwich-born Leicester Tigers forward, brought up in Woodton, near Bungay, was part of the squad which won the World U20 Championship on home soil last year.

Despite that Evans, a former Wymondham College pupil and Wymondham RFC junior, was not part of the squad which won the U20 Six Nations Grand Slam earlier this year.

The openside flanker, who was named in England senior training squad last summer and has made 18 appearances for Leicester this season, has returned to the fold ahead of the title defence in Georgia though. With five players stepping up from the U20s to the latest senior squad, for the tour of Argentina, it is an opportunity for Evans to raise his profile again.

RFU head of international player development, Dean Ryan, said: 'Following the England Under-20s Grand Slam earlier this year, it is great to have five players earn places in the senior squad.

'The Six Nations showed that we have a large pool of young talent and that competition for places is high. We're looking forward to seeing which players now take the opportunity to make their mark in the World Championship this summer as this group continues to develop.'

England begin their Pool A fixtures against Samoa on Wednesday, May 31 (10am UK time) before playing Wales on Sunday, June 4 (5pm) and Australia on Thursday, June 8 (5pm) – with all matches being screened live on ITV.
