Sue Haney is a very understanding wife – her husband Phil is fishery maintenance manager for Norfolk & Suffolk Flyfishers and is very often missing from their Scarning home.

Phil can often be found leading the team of dedicated work party volunteers down at the East Tuddenham lakes.

However, as a participant on the second sell-out 'Try the Fly' day, she soon understood the attraction.

Fishing an olive damsel next to the boat on the top lake she managed to bank one of the first fish of the day on her first ever attempt at the gentle art. With participants trying most of the pegs and quite a few different flies, it soon became apparent the top lake was the place to be, although both lakes were restocked only a few days ago, with as usual, buzzers, nymphs and surface flies being most productive, but an inspection of the shallows showed large numbers of tadpoles starting to emerge, so expect little black lures to start producing very soon.
