To adapt the words of Lord Nelson – 'Norfolk expects every man to do their duty... at BSB Knockhill',
RAF Regular and Reserves rider Jake Dixon and Morello Racing's Danny Buchan did just that as they showed everyone the way home in their races with two wins apiece.
Dixon, fresh from a great result in the Donington World Superbikes, put his Kawasaki ZX10-RR on the front row in second position for both races. As the lights went out for race one, Dixon took control immediately and set about consolidating his lead in the 30-lap race.
It became clear he was making a break which no one could match, riding a very mature race to claim his first win in the British Superbike Championship.
Race two was not as easy as the RAF roundel on the back of Dixon's leathers became a target and, despite an early lead, it was not long before Luke Mossey, James Ellison and Shane Bryne relegated him into fourth place.
With about eight laps remaining Dixon relit the fuse to take Mossey and then pulled off an audacious move on Bryne as they went down the hill into McIntyre's, a move he pulled again on Ellison with three laps remaining to claim his second BSB victory.
In the Superstock 1000, Danny Buchan was determined to regain the championship lead from Richard Cooper and also arrived aiming to make his mark by taking pole for both races, while Cooper could manage only the second row. Buchan took command from the start and rode a controlled race, holding off Michael Rutter and Matthew Paulo to the flag. Cooper retired from the race, meaning Buchan went into race two with a healthy lead. He took charge again but Chrissy Rouse stuck to his tail to take second with Cooper grabbing third – but Buchan left Knockhill with a 33-point lead in the championship and a happy man.
Unfortunately, Buchan's team-mate Fraser Rogers had set-up issues which placed him down the grid and he finished eighth in the first race and sixth in the second. RAF Regular and Reserves rider Jordan Weaving was 11th in race one but crashed out in race two. True Heroes Racing's King's Lynn rider Mark Fincham took 24th in race one and 20th in race two. Thetford's Ryan Vickers was 13th in the Superstock 600 class.
