Diss put in yet another high scoring performance to lift themselves to a position in London One North that reflects a very satisfactory first phase of the campaign.

From the kick-off, Chris Beaird broke through from halfway to send John Laurie over to score, giving the visitors a strong foothold in the game.

The greatest problem for Diss proved to be the retention of possession from the restart and Old Priorians responded immediately by moving the ball at pace, with intelligent use of the cross kick. A converted try on six minutes reversed the initiative, indicating that the game was set to be a close encounter.

Diss responded by playing a brand of rugby that exhibited continuity between the forwards and backs and at a pace OPs struggled to deal with. Ed Hudson crashed over and Stephen Hipwell scored his first try of the afternoon following superb inter-play from deep, with Beaird stepping up to convert both.

The hosts yet again secured ball from the kick-off and constructed a superb try of their own to bring the scores within seven points. With the Diss eight dominant in the tight, and following a strike against the head, Hipwell crashed over again, but the visitors then lost concentration. allowing OPs the opportunity to score two further tries to make the half-time score 26-22 to Diss.

Diss responded in positive fashion following the break and a subtle and well-delivered pass from Jack Peacock allowed Harry Gooderham to execute a superb line, creating space for himself to score a brilliant individual try. Yet again, however, Diss lost possession from the restart and OPs capitalised. scoring a further well-structured try to keep themselves in the game, which now lost structure, with both sides trying to gain the initiative.

Diss were without doubt the stronger side but a lack of precision and poor-decision making initially halted their aspirations. But led by the more experienced players, the visitors eventually responded and having secured a five-metre lineout on the Priorians' line, Hipwell took the initiative to score his third try.

Beaird converted and also slotted a further penalty as Diss picked up a second successive entertaining, high scoring and determined bonus point win.
