Lowestoft Town boss Dale Brooks hopes Andrew Fisk's return to the Blues starting line-up can give their Bostik Premier Division survival hopes a timely boost.

The competitive midfielder has been a big miss for the Trawlerboys in recent weeks after suffering a serious gash against Dorking Wanderers at the start of January.

Fisk made his return to the startling line-up on Saturday in the 0-0 draw against Tooting & Mitcham, putting in his normal tigerish display, and Brooks believes his experience could prove invaluable in the end of season run-in.

'Fisky has been a massive miss for us – he's an organiser in the middle of the park and him and Rossi (Jarvis) do a great job in there when they are available to us.

'Those two lads know what this level of football is all about.

'You can't beat that experience through the middle – we've used a few other lads and they have done well – but Fisky has played at this level for a long time now and knows what it takes to get results.'

Whilst Brooks was pleased with Fisk's return to action, the Blues chief admitted his side should have secured all three points against their fellow strugglers.

'I thought we created the better chances and we should have won the game,' he said.

'Had we been more clinical we could have won 2-0 or 3-0 but that's just the way it goes sometimes.

'The lads know that we are not far away from really putting a performance together.

'They're all up for the battles that lie ahead because we obviously know that it's very tight at the bottom of the table.

'We are seven points off bottom place but we're only six points away from 12th.

'There's still a lot of football to be played.'

Brooks admitted the club is not in a position to bring any more players in as it stands.

'We're struggling to bring people in at the moment.

'It's as tough off the pitch as it is on it,' said the former Southend Under-21s boss, who will be without Dean Leacock again this weekend as his side head to play-off hunting Hendon.

'But we will go with what we have until that situation changes and see where it takes us.'
