King's Lynn Stars will be without Niels-Kristian Iversen when they kick off arguably the biggest week in their history on Monday night.

The Stars head to the south coast to face Poole, intent on putting a line in the sand in the race for the British Premiership crown.

Act one of the grand final drama is at Poole's Wimborne Road track, followed by the crucial second leg at Lynn's Adrian Flux Arena on Wednesday.

But they will have to start without Iversen, who crashed while racing in Poland on Sunday. He will be replaced by former Poole man Adam Ellis.

Iversen was taken to hospital and later tweeted: 'Got released from hospital with nothing broken. Took a pretty heavy knock but will be all good with some rest. So I count myself lucky. Thanks you all your concerns.'

The Stars won't need reminding they have lost on both trips to Poole this season. There were mitigating circumstances the first time when a patched-up side lost 58-32, while the August 61-29 battering might be considered a blip as Lynn finally found the formula which saw them climb the table to finish top at the end of the regular season.

The Stars have never been this close to the big prize in their 53-year history – but rarely have they looked such an awesome team.

Lewis Kerr's season was ended in that June meeting at Poole – and his heart is set on seeing his pals win the title.

'Poole have been in so many finals, they are experienced at it so will maybe try some mind games,' he said. 'It really is a case of our boys sticking to the saying 'Keep Calm And Carry On'. If they do that then the title is in the bag.

'I know they got hammered at Wimborne Road a couple of months ago but I don't see that happening again. This is the final and our boys will be fired-up.'

Poole boss Matt Ford has confirmed Swindon flier Nick Morris will guest in place of Brady Kurtz in the first leg.

Kurtz suffered a broken collarbone in a crash with Somerset's Jack Holder during heat four of last Monday's semi-final second leg against the Rebels.

Ford said: 'I always feel confident about using Nick Morris and he has been a good friend to the club for many years. He is best friends with Darcy Ward and was best man at his wedding in February so Nick's association with the Pirates goes back several years and he has always been around the club.

King's Lynn: Robert Lambert, Erik Riss, Ty Proctor, Thomas Jorgensen, Niels-Kristian Iversen, Michael Palm-Toft, Simon Lambert.
