Lowestoft joint boss Micky Chapman is banking on the Blues' cup form in today's FA Vase second round tie against Desborough at Crown Meadow.

The former Ridgeons Premier champions have lost four of their last five in the league, but knocked out Newmarket in midweek to clinch a Suffolk Premier cup semi-final berth. Chapman knows his men must be on their mettle against the UCL outfit.

“It's a massive game for us,” he said. “It's a big tie for everyone and we know it will be tough at this stage of the competition. We need to have the right attitude, prepare properly and make it happen on the pitch as we have got quality players who can cause them problems. Everyone at the club wants to be in the hat come 5pm.”

Chapman praised his troops' 4-0 midweek demolition job on the Jockeys.

“It was a terrible night for football, so all credit to the lads for their efforts,” he said. “They never stopped and we scored four really good goals through a brace apiece for Bradley Hough and Jamie Godbold. We were solid as a defensive unit as Newmarket kept going throughout - it shows we can do it, be exciting going forward as well, and now we have to do it consistently.

“Our away form has been shocking and we're now working hard to address this - we're in the results business.”

Wroxham caretaker boss Graham Challen is confident of Vase progress at Mildenhall in the wake of Damian Hilton's exit. Mildenhall counterpart Trevor Munns takes charge of his final match before also stepping down. Danny Self will undergo a late fitness test but Charlton Halliday is suspended.

“What with all the upheaval this week our fans may believe we haven't a chance at Mildenhall,” said Challen. “But they too have had their internal troubles so I'm not so sure we rate as underdogs. This is a massively important game for us and victory would demonstrate that Wroxham are a resilient club who have the capacity to bounce back from these little local difficulties.”

t Wisbech boss Roy McManus is absent due to family commitments for Town's short Ridgeons Premier visit to CRC.

Captain Lee Day faces a fortnight out after picking up a hamstring injury in the midweek win at Swaffham. Lewis Cook, James McManus and defender Paul Cousins are expected to shake off knocks. Midfielder Stuart Ablett is available after suspension.

Dereham are set to include fit again trio Ollie Willis, Adie Hayes and Sam Willis a home to Haverhill.
