It's renowned as one of the most family-friendly events around and this year's Latitude Festival will have even more on offer for youngsters to do - thanks to a Norwich arts group.

For the fourth year in a row Culture Works East will be hosting the Inbetweeners Teen area at the festival, which kicks off on Friday.

The area gives children the chance to take part in a series of workshops with professionals from the arts and media, including the Eastern Daily Press and Norwich Evening News.

A special area has been set up where young people can use state-of-the-art equipment to produce their own work and get real hands-on experience of the media and music industry.

Sessions include comic book design, animation and photography, beat boxing, music production, DJing and MCing, fashion, screen printing and design.

Those involved in the free workshops include the British Film Industry, Access To Music performers, Writers' Centre Norwich and Ideas Tap.

Elli Chapman, artistic director, said: 'Young people will gain insight into real creative careers, have a chance to have a go themselves and get insider info that no book could teach.

'By getting involved in our activities young festival goers can develop and deepen their relationship with the arts, learn new technical, creative and transferable skills, get their opinions heard and importantly support them to make a connection with the arts that goes beyond the festival.'

Sharon Reuben, head of Artist Liaison at Festival Republic, said: 'The team we have assembled this year brings together the very best of what Latitude Festival can offer, bringing artists, media and education together so everyone involved has a truly remarkable experience.'

Culture Works are also launching a brand new area, the Enchanted Garden in Family. Supported by the Arts Council some of the most popular workshops, such as printmaking, beat boxing and animation will run consecutively there as well as in the Teen Area, offering sessions for a wider age group.
