It is a case of on with the show tonight for a mid-Norfolk amateur dramatic group after illness among the cast forced the cancellation of the first night of their comedy show.
Dereham Operatic Society was to have presented the opening performance of the cult spoof drama, The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen's Guild Dramatic Society Murder Mystery last night but a member of the cast was struck down by illness and it was too short notice to find a replacement for the important role.
Society members were at the town's Memorial Hall to greet the 120 people who had bought tickets for the show and to inform them it was off. They were either able to transfer to another night or be given a refund.
Happily, the indisposed cast member is well enough to take to the stage tonight at 7.30pm. An evening of hilarity is promised because everything that the Guild members touch goes disastrously wrong. The show can also been seen tomorrow night at 7.30pm.
Tickets at 7 from Kitchenware at 8 High Street, Dereham, or by telephone on 01362 699899.
